Registration and Financial Policy
- Your child's space is guaranteed when your application has been received with the non-refundable $25 registration fee, and is signed by the Supervisor.
- Enrollment in our JK/SK program requires a $150 holding fee which will be applied to your September fee.
- Prior to admission, an up-to-date immunization record for your child is required.
- Fees are due at the beginning of each month. Our child development centre operates on a non-profit basis and the fees are the main source of income.
- The monthly fee is due regardless of the number of days in the month, absenteeism due to illness or inclement weather, school closings and statutory holidays. Our JK/SK program closes the week during Christmas and March breaks.
- If, for some reason, it becomes necessary to withdraw your child, a minimum notice of one month is required, or one month's fee in lieu of that notice.
- Parents may apply to the Regional Municipality of Waterloo Day Care office to seek assistance with all or part of the fee. To receive information or eligibility for subsidy, call the Regional Day Care Office at (519) 883-2273.
- Part-time day care will be only offered for 2 or 3 full days a week.
For information about admissions and costs, visit our Admissions & Costs page.
Vacation Policy
- We allow 2 weeks summer vacation (without payment) for full-time day care families. Any extra time over 2 weeks must be paid for if you request that we save your child's full-time space for September.
- Children must be enrolled for one year to be eligible in July & August for vacation or a monthly equivalent. For example, enrollment in January will entitle you to 1 week vacation in July & August.
- Part-time day care families will be eligible for 2 week vacation credit.
- Families that wish to withdraw for July & August and request that we save their child's full day care space for September, will be expected to pay for the entire summer minus the 2 week vacation credit.
Financial and Attendance Policies for Part-Time Families
Part-Time Daycare Program
- Fees are due at the beginning of each month. Calculate the number of days your child is registered to attend that month and multiply it by the daily rate. This includes all stat holidays or if your child is ill.
- Substitution of days cannot be accommodated. This leads to an over-enrollment in our classrooms. In order to offer your part time programs, enrollments have taken place to cover unused days.
- A reduction of fees for families with more than one child in the centre applies only to full day care enrollments.
- Part-time families are eligible for 2 weeks vacation without payment.
- Every effort is made to offer as inclusive a program as possible for all part-time families. Please remember that when part-time programs are requested, your child will obviously not participate in an entire program and every planned activity. Please do not request that your child be included on days for which you have not registered. This would result in an over-enrollment of our program.
Health & Emergency Procedures
Handling Illnesses
Please be aware that we cannot tend to the needs of ill children. Children who exhibit the following symptoms will be excluded from our program:
- rashes
- fevers
- eye infections
- children who feel too miserable to participate in our programs.
If your child should become ill while at school, the supervisor will call you at the numbers listed on the application form to come and pick him/her up. The supervisor will make the decision to call you based on the interest of both your child and the health of the other children in the centre. For this reason it is important that your business numbers and people listed on the application as alternative emergency numbers be kept up-to-date. See also our discussion about diseases.
Dispensing Medications
The supervisor of Emmanuel will dispense medication under the following conditions:
- the medication must be in its original container
- the medicine must be labelled with the child's name
- information must be written down on a daily basis regarding medication schedule--see medication book in the centre's office.
See our discussions about prescription medication and non-prescription medication.
Accidents
If your child should have a minor accident while at school, the supervisor will call you to come and decide on medical treatment. If the injury is deemed serious, an ambulance will be called and we will meet you at the appropriate hospital.
Sun Protection
In the summer months we strongly encourage families to apply sunscreen to their children before coming to school. We will re-apply in the afternoon. We use a fragrance-free product called Ombrelle, manufactured by Dermtex. The cost of the sunscreen is included in your registration fee.
Emergency Closing Policy
Rarely does Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre close due to an emergency. However, this sometimes becomes necessary during the winter. If the Waterloo Region School Board close the schools, Emmanuel at Brighton Child Care Centre will also close. Parents should use their discretion before bringing their children to school in severe weather conditions. Centre closures will be announced on CKKW 1090, CHYM 96.7, and KOOL FM 105.3.
